Aotea Centre Refurbishment, Auckland

Major exterior and interior (foyers) refurbishment of the Aotea Centre. Works include new cladding to the fly tower, new roofing and feature fascia, together with the refurbishment of the internal Foyer levels. Foyer refurbishment was completed mid 2019 with the external refurbishment completed late 2021. Budget $53m.

Westgate Multi-purpose Facility -  Te Manawa, Auckland

New three level Multi-purpose facility and community library for the new Westgate town centre. The building was also a finalist in the Civic Building awards 2019. The building also achived a 5 star NZGBC Green Building rating. Project completed in December 2018. Construction cost $28m.

Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell

The Selwyn’s Vision project is being completed in several work packages. The first package is the removal of the internal bridge that currently divides the Cathedral building, together with structural strengthening and western siteworks. This work makes way for the new Cathedral organ. The main construction work package is the construction of the new Bishop Selwyn Chapel behind the High Altar, together with the St Mary’s link and siteworks. Total project budget is $13m, and final completion of the organ was in  2017.

Wellington Zoo Chimp Enclosure, Wellington

This renovation and upgrade of the chimpanzee enclosure was completed in January 2019 and Maltbys Wellington provided a full QS service. Construction Cost circa $800K.

Te Papa Natural History - Te Taiao, Wellington

The refresh of the Natural History exhibit at the Te Papa Museum of New Zealand was completed in January 2019. For this project, Maltbys Wellington provided a full QS service. Construction cost circa $2.5m.

Te Papa Renewal Project, Wellington

This refresh of the Toi Art Gallery, completed in April 2018, won Colliers Best Team Award at the Wellington Property People Awards. Maltbys Wellington provided a full QS service for this project. Construction cost circa $5.5m.

The Great War Exhibition and Dominion Museums Building Redevelopment, Wellington

Great War Exhibition works which consisted of predominantly Fitout works, including the creation of three new gallery spaces and a café, to the Dominion Museum Building previously occupied by Massey University. Completed April 2015. Construction cost $3.7m.

Rore Kahu, Bay of Islands

Rore Kahu which translates as 'soaring hawk' is the visitor’s centre that sits within the Rangihoua Heritage Park in the Bay of Islands. Construction was completed in 2014 for the bicentenary of the first missionary sermon in New Zealand on the site over two centuries ago. Construction cost $2m.

Ashburton Art Gallery

Ashburton Art Gallery and Heritage Centre. New art gallery and heritage centre building. Design incorporates the use of a precast concrete structure to provide a stable and acoustically acceptable environment within. Total project budget is $6.2m. Base build completed in June 2014.

Rotorua Police Station

Redevelopment of the existing site, including significant demolition, approximately 3100m2 of new build and some refurbishment of the existing buildings. The new building is open plan and fully flexible, and the design incorporates the PRESSS structural system and is rated to Importance Level 4. Total project budget $18.5m. Completed May 2014.

Shed 10, Cruise Terminal, Auckland

Shed 10 is a 103 year old historic wharf shed. After extensive restoration it was officially re-opened in September 2013 ready for use as the city's primary cruise terminal and multi-function space. The upper floor is the passenger lounge, processing and waiting areas for embarking passengers and customs controlled space for border agency processing. The ground floor will be used for passenger luggage, security and additional border agency processing.

SPCA Wellington

Relocation to the former Fever Hospital.  Wellington City Council have undertaken to strengthen the existing buildings and the SPCA will be responsible for the internal fit-out to suit their needs including a Veterinary Theatre and Education Facilities.  In addition to this, the construction of a new  Kennel Building and a Loading Dock. Completed in December 2013.

Manukau Police Station - Stage 3

Further expansion of the existing Police Station to house additional staff. The 1,010m2 new build extension is built over the top floor of the existing multi storey carpark and is connected into the existing building. The extension houses the CIB, and the project also included remodelling the existing Stage 1 areas that previously housed the CIB. Project completed in July 2011. Total budget $5m.

Manurewa Police Station

Expansion of and full redevelopment of the existing Police Station to house additional staff. There are small additions to the existing ground floor footprint, together with constructing an additional floor of circa 800m2 over the existing floor. All existing areas fully refurbished to provide an open plan layout. Project completed in September 2011. Total budget $6m.

Birkenhead Library & Civic Centre, Auckland

An iconic 2662m2 library and community facilities building with stunning views across the Harbour. The Library houses the CAB and Plunket, together with some of Council’s important community services. The building has a basement carpark together with the Main Library level and a mezzanine library level. Project completed in November 2009 and opened to the public in December 2009. Total project cost $ 9.85m.

Blue Water Black Magic

A tribute to Sir Peter Blake constructed as part of the Voyager NZ National Maritime Museum in Auckland. The completed exhibit building houses NZL 32 (or Black Magic), the America’s Cup class yacht that won the 1995 America’s Cup and was gifted to the Museum. Total project cost $9m. The new exhibit opened to the public in December 2009.

Birkenhead Ferry Terminal Building

Construction of a new ferry terminal on the existing Birkenhead wharf. New terminal includes waiting area, toilets, kitchen, ticketing etc. Completed in 2006. Construction cost $1.5m.

Beehive Refurbishment, Wellington

Refurbishment of the Executive Wing from Basement to Level 3 including the Main Entry Foyer, Banquet Hall, Public Announcement Theatrette, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Main Kitchen and Restaurant/Cafeteria fitouts. Completed in 2006. Construction cost $17m.

New Zealand Centre for Conservation Medicine, Auckland Zoo

New building to replace the existing facility at the Zoo. Single storey animal research and treatment centre including a public viewing, display and interaction area for Zoo visitors. Project completed July 2007. Construction cost $3.2m.

Matiatia Ferry Passenger Terminal, Waiheke Island

Construction of a new passenger terminal building to replace the existing building. Terminal building includes waiting areas, ticketing, toilets, café and concession tenancies. Completed in 2004. Construction cost $3.2m.

Buddhist Temple, East Tamaki, Auckland

New Buddhist temple on a Greenfield site including carparking and landscaping. Completed in 2003. Construction cost $13m.

Downtown Ferry Passenger Terminal, Auckland

Construction of two new ferry terminal piers on the existing wharf, including waiting areas, ticketing, toilets etc. Completed in 2005. Construction cost $9.65m..

Downtown Carpark Extension

Construction of two additional carpark floors on top of existing 6 level carpark building, providing an additional 443 carparks. Project involved seismic structural upgrade of the existing carpark and staged lift replacements. All work undertaken whilst maintaining the carparking operation. Completed in 2003. Construction cost $6.8m.

Auckland Art Gallery Storage Facility

Alterations and fitout of an existing basement for the storage of artwork in a strict temperature and humidity controlled environment. Completed in 2003. Construction cost $2.65m.

Kapiti Public Library & District Council Archives, Paraparaumu

New public library and archive building. Completed in 2003. Construction cost $4.7m

Onehunga Library & Community Centre, Auckland 

Construction of a new Library and Community Centre building. Library building of approximately 500m2 with adjoining Community Centre build around a central courtyard. Community Centre houses office space for the Citizens Advice Bureau. Completed in 2002. Construction cost $3.4m. .
